Liner Recycling/Disposal
An economical and environmentally friendly

Green Energy Services’ LLDPE Liner Recycling
Green Energy Services, together with our recycling partners, have introduced a recycling service for the oil and gas industry in Western Canada. Working with our recycling partners, we domestically shred, grind and wash LLDPE liners, reclaiming the LLDPE resin in a 100% environmentally friendly process.
Plastic takes more than 1,000 years to biodegrade in a landfill!
True Environmental Stewardship
Environmental stewards strive to sustain natural resources and our environment for future generations. People depend on natural resources for their livelihood. However, pressures on the environment resulting from development are steadily increasing. Therefore, it is necessary for citizens and the business community to ensure that their activities and operations are environmentally responsible.
In Western Canada, there is currently well over 15 million pounds of plastic from pit and tank liners going into landfills on an annual basis. The oil and gas industry is encouraged to promote waste minimization within their operations, and therefore, the industry is encouraged to develop effective strategies to minimize and effectively handle wastes in a diligent manner.
Recycling is important to the communities and regions where we work. A responsible and efficient approach to reducing environmental impact is essential.
Recycling plastics reduces the amount of energy and natural resources (such as water & petroleum) needed to create virgin plastic.
Recycling plastic products also keeps them out of landfills and allows the plastics to be reused in manufacturing new products. Recycling one ton of plastic saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space.

The Process
-
Cleaning
Liner is cleaned onsite to remove any dirt, oil, chemical and non-LLDPE contaminants
-
Cut and Rolled
Clean liner material is cut and rolled on location
-
Baled and Stored
Liner material is picked up and delivered to GES facility to be baled and stored
-
Transported
Baled material is transported to recycling facility
-
Refined
Plastic is cleaned, shredded and melted down to reclaim LLDPE resin pellets
-
Recycled
Resin pellets are utilized to make new plastic products such as garbage cans, recycling bins, buckets, composite fencing and decking, plastic tanks
Shredding
*Not all liner can be recycled. However, Green Energy Services offers a cost-effective solution that reduces the environmental footprint in landfills. The product will break down quicker and hold less water in the landfill allowing for a more environmentally friendly disposal.
